A number of crashes took place across north Northumberland over the bank holiday weekend leaving one woman with serious head injuries.
On Saturday police and ambulance crews alongside the Great North Air Ambulance were called to a crash near Embleton at around 11am.
A 28-year-old woman was in a critical condition after an accident involving a car.
The air ambulance was called and the woman was anaesthetised at the scene by the crew’s doctor.
She was then taken to Newcastle RVI where she was said to be in a critical condition.
l On Monday there were tailbacks on the A1 after a crash in the southbound carriageway of the single lane section near Felton.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “At 10.38am on Monday police received reports of a collision involving a caravan and a car on the A1 southbound near Eshott Airfield.
“No one was seriously injured.”
l And on Tuesday a car smashed the window of Johnsons Dry Cleaners on Market Street in Alnwick.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were called at around 11am.
The shop window and door were damaged but there were no injuries.
