Woman airlifted to hospital after crash

A woman was airlifted to hospital after a two-car collision in Northumberland on Saturday.

The incident, on the A697 in north Northumberland, took place around 12.15pm. A woman in her 20s had sustained serious injuries.

She was treated at the scene by North East Ambulance Service paramedics and the Great North Air Ambulance Service team before being flown to the RVI in Newcastle.

She arrived after a 12-minute flight in a stable condition, but with multiple serious injuries.
