Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Northumberland early this morning.
Reports were received at 1.13am that a vehicle had overturned on the A69, one mile east of the Bridge End Roundabout at Hexham.
Emergency services attended the scene and found the car had been travelling on the eastbound carriageway, when, for reasons yet to be established, it rolled over in the carriageway. The driver was declared dead at the scene.
It is believed a second vehicle may have been involved in the collision which failed to stop at the scene and officers would like to speak with the occupants of this vehicle.
The eastbound carriageway was closed until 8.30am to allow for the scene to be examined by motor patrols officers.
Police are appealing for witnesses and want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident or who has any information which could assist their investigation to contact them on 101 quoting reference 38 19/10/16.
