Lifeboats were called out in north Northumberland earlier today to assist in the search for an overdue windsurfer.
The crafts were launched from Seahouses and Craster just after 5pm.
About two hours later, it was discovered that the man had been spotted and recovered by a local fishing boat, MFV Genesis.
He was taken to shore and a coastguard helicopter was also tasked to assess the windsurfer.
In the early afternoon, Amble lifeboat was called out after a local yacht reported suffering machinery failure and that they were starting to take on water.
Strong winds were also making it difficult for those on board the yacht.
Once at the scene, a tow line was attached and the yacht was brought safely into the relative calm of Amble Harbour, where the crew and vessel were checked over to make sure they were ok.
