Alnmouth WI is celebrating its centenary this year.

Founded in 1918 by Anne Scholefield, of Lint Close, which is now the Friary, it is still an active group of more than 70 women and continues to play an integral part in the life of the village.

To mark the anniversary, an oak tree, donated by Northumberland Estates, has been planted overlooking the golf course.

A dedication ceremony was performed by Coun Robbie Moore, with a blessing from the Rev Ian MacKarill, and was attended by members of Northumberland County Council, Alnmouth Parish Council, the Burgage Holders, the Hindmarsh Hall Committee, the WI Federation and members of Alnmouth WI, including president Janis Crooke.
