A weight-loss mother-of-two who managed to shed the pounds is about to become the new consultant of a village’s Slimming World group.
Tracey Friar, from Alnwick, lost more than two stone in 18 months and she is now feeling fitter, healthier and more confident.
Inspired by her own journey and determined to help others, the 46-year-old is taking over Longhoughton’s Slimming World group, from Monday.
She said: “If it hadn’t been for the Slimming World group that I attended, I don’t think I would have lost the weight, because on my own, and without others, I wouldn’t have had that inspiration and support.
“By becoming the new consultant at Longhoughton, I want to help others in the same way that I was helped.”
Explaining just how vital the Slimming World group was for her, Tracey said: “I had always led an active life and enjoyed playing golf. My weight slowly gained and I started to feel so unfit and sluggish.
“Aches and pains started to appear, I felt miserable, very unhealthy and my confidence was at an all-time low.
“My friends suggested Slimming World so I made the first big step and joined my local group. It was a hard thing to do, but it was amazing and the people were so welcoming.
“The eating plan allowed so much flexibility. Nothing was banned. I lost 3lb in my first week, eating food I enjoyed, and receiving my half-stone award within two weeks.
“I have lost 30lb since joining Slimming World and I now have the confidence to enjoy my life. My fitness levels have returned and I’m enjoying my round of golf – I can now reach the top of the hill on the third fairway with ease!”
The Longhoughton group is every Monday, from 7pm, at Westfield Park. To join, call Tracey on 07533 258049 or just turn up on the night.
