Following a mini heatwave across the North East, the dry weather looks set to continue into the Easter weekend however it will turn slightly cooler.

Met Office forecasters are expecting sunny spells with the odd shower across the county this weekend, with temperatures averaging around the 9°C mark before turning much colder as we head into next week.

Good Friday (April 2)

Forecasters are predicting a dry but overcast start to the bank holiday weekend with temperatures around the 6°C mark as we head through the morning.

By mid-afternoon, it should turn slightly warmer as the city expects to see some sunny spells heading into the evening.

If you’re heading to the coast for your Good Friday fish and chips, do expect the weather to feel cooler than further inland.

Much like Friday, Met Office forecasters are anticipating another overcast start with temperatures expected to reach no higher than 5°C.

The weather is expected to turn bright and sunny throughout the afternoon, reaching a daily high of 9°C.

Easter Sunday (April 4)

Forecasters are expecting Easter Sunday to be the warmest day of the weekend, as temperatures are predicted to reach highs of 11°C.

There is a slight chance of some showers as we head into the evening with temperatures plummeting to around 5°C.

Easter Monday (April 5)

A dry but cold start to bank holiday Monday, with temperatures predicted to be around the 3°C mark.

Northumberland could see some sunny spells throughout the afternoon however the weather is expected to turn wet with the odd shower and remain overcast as we head into the evening.

Temperatures are predicted to reach no higher than 5°C, marking an end to the warm weather that we have been experiencing recently.
