Heavy rain is forecast in Northumberland throughout Sunday, February 16, as a weather warning remains in place for strong winds as Storm Dennis continues.

What will the weather be like in Northumberland this morning?

Heavy rain is forecast throughout most of the morning and into the afternoon. The temperature will rise to highs of 11C but it will feel as cold as 6C and wind will reach up to 20mph.

The heavy rain will continue until around 3pm when it will reduce to lighter showers. Cloud will remain throughout this time and strong winds will continue, reaching as high as 21mph at some points throughout the afternoon.

After the heavy downpour, cloud is expected to clear by around 8pm and this will continue into the early hours of the morning – there is little chance of further rain but strong winds will persist.

The Met Office forecast for Monday, February 17 to Wednesday, February 19 said: “Monday and Tuesday windy with sunshine and showers, these sometimes heavy with hail and thunder, also wintry over high ground. Wednesday lighter winds, dry and bright before rain arrives later.”
