Northumberland looks set to see rising temperatures - here's what you can expect from the Met Office's five-day forecast

Forecasters say that as June ends and July begins, we will see a fair bit of sunshine – it’s just that we’ll see a fair bit of cloud too.

The Met Office says that over the next few days we can expect sunny intervals. The skies will alternate quite frequently between beautiful blue and overcast. We won’t see any records broken, but it will stay dry with a maximum temperature all week of 17°C.

Temperatures have dropped from their 20-plus levels of a couple of weeks ago, but what can we expect to see each day of this week.

Here’s what the Met Office expects between now and the weekend:

The forecast for Monday

The skies will be mainly bright and clear. The sunshine will be upon us and it should be bright until sunset. It won’t cloud over completely until the early hours of Tuesday. Temperatures of up to 17°C are expected and won’t drop below 10°C overnight. The wind will provide little more than a light breeze in the coming days. The sun won’t set until almost 10pm this week.

The forecast for Tuesday

It will be cloudy and misty when the sun rises at 4.30am on June 29, but sunny intervals will start soon afterwards and should last until around noon. Following more sunny intervals, cloud will become thicker as the evening wears on, but it won’t rain. Maximum temperature is 16°C.

The forecast for Wednesday

Wednesday will be duller. It will be an overcast morning and we don’t expect to see any sunshine until the late afternoon when the sunny intervals will start again. Temperatures should peak at around 15°C in the afternoon.

The forecast for Thursday

Thursday, July 1 is predicted by the Met Office to be similar to Wednesday here in Northumberland. It’s expected to be overcast until later in the afternoon when we are expecting sun to shine again. This should last until sunset. The maximum temperature should be about 15°C in the afternoon.

The forecast for Friday

The not-bad but unremarkable weather is set to continue nearer the weekend with temperatures no more than 16°C on Friday, when there will be yet more sunny intervals later in the afternoon after a cloudy start to the day. The evening will see the best of the weather.
