Met Office issues a yellow weather warning for rain, snow and ice in Northumberland

Northumberland is set to be hit with rain, snow and ice on Wednesday evening as Met Office issues yellow weather warning across the region.

The Met office has issued a weather warning for snow and ice across much of Scotland and Northern England on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Yellow Warning is in place from Wednesday evening at 9pm overnight into Thursday morning until around 10am.

Forecasters are warning icy stretches may lead to some travel disruption from Wednesday evening through into Thursday morning and said there is likely to be some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths across the North of England and Scotland.

There is some snow forecast however this is mainly expected at higher ground.

What will the weather be like on Wednesday evening?

Heavy rain is expected between 6pm until 10pm with light rain expecting to continue until 3am. Temperatures are expected to hit only 2°C.

What will it be like on Thursday morning?

It is expected to be clear on Thursday morning, however low temperatures could mean icy patches. Temperatures are expected to remain around 2°C.

Met Office forecast is predicting the weather to be slightly cloudy on Thursday afternoon with a little bit of cloud – temperatures rising to 7°C.

What will the weather be like heading into the rest of the week?

Forecasts say the weather will be cloudy on Friday, March 13 with some rain showers on Saturday, March 14. Temperatures are expected to reach 9°C.
