LIVE Snow updates: Drivers face icy conditions as Met Office predicts further flurries as weather warning continues

Biting conditions continue across the North East as a Met Office yellow weather warning remains in place today, Thursday, February 11, with temperatures as cold as -8C expected tonight.

Its forecasters say while the day will remain largely dry with some sunshine, the region could see some snow showers, particularly later on in the day.

The Met Office also warns we should expect another severe frost and ice stretches overnight, with the temperatures feeling especially cold because of a brisk breeze.

The Northumberland coast in particular has been warned there will be snow showers as darkness falls and says the North East can expect it to drop to as low as -8C.
