The rising River Wansbeck has prompted the closure of Oldgate Bridge in Morpeth.
An eyewitness told the Gazette that police shut off the structure as a precautionary measure at around 10pm.
He also said that the Wansbeck has burst its banks at the town's Riverside Leisure Centre and takeaway and fast-food outlet Fortune Cookies, which is nearby, has been flooded.
Meanwhile, Tom Pitman took a series of pictures of the flooding in Morpeth at around 8pm.
There are currently three flood warnings in place along the River Wansbeck.
