An Alnwick landlady has spoken of her anger after her pub windows were smashed.
Vandals damaged five of the windows at The Alnwick Gate in Clayport Street, in the early hours of this morning.
Owner Jackie McDougall, who only took over the pub six weeks ago, was furious when she arrived today.
She said: “People have faith in this pub, it’s a community pub which has been sold out for Sunday lunches for weeks now.
“People complain about the vandalism on that Boris Johnson poster but this is the true side of vandalism.”
Jackie said the vandals reached through one of the broken windows and stole a brass eagle, a plant pot, candlesticks and some pot pourri. She does not yet know how much the damage will cost to repair.
The pub is open for business as usual.
Police are investigating the vandalism.
