Mayor of London Boris Johnson had to field some tricky questions from two north Northumberland students during his visit to north Northumberland today.

The Conservative politician and personality was besides the single-carriageway A1 at Causey Park this afternoon where he signed a banner to pledge his support to the dualling campaign and talked to the Gazette about that as well as the prospect of a Mayor for the North East.

He also took the time to talk to Duchess’s Community High School pupil Sally Larkin, from Boulmer, and Longhoughton resident Emily Smart, who is at college in Newcastle. They asked him why it had taken so long to make any progress on dualling the A1 and about the loss of search and rescue helicopters at RAF Boulmer, which seemed to be outside of his area of expertise, as can be seen in the above video.
