WATCH: Surfing Santas brave the cold for RNLI appeal

Four hardy watersport fans braved the chilly North Sea to take part in a special fund-raising surf – wearing just board shorts and Santa hats.

The brave quartet completed the Christmas-themed challenge in aid of Amble RNLI’s £200,000 Shannon-class lifeboat appeal.

Jon Nolan, of Amble-based Northside Surf School, was joined by team members Paul and Jared Groves and Davy Wiggett on Monday afternoon. The group rode the waves off the coast at Warkworth.

Jon said: “The event came together and there were some good waves on the day. It was all for a good cause, because members of the RNLI risk their lives for others.”

The team has raised around £400 so far. To sponsor them, visit www.justgiving.com/Jon-Nolan/
