Heavy rain has led to flash flooding on roads in Alnwick, although the water seems to have dispersed almost as quickly as it arrived in many places.
This picture and video, courtesy of Courtney Dunn, show what it was like on Bondgate Within near Iceland a little earlier, which was also the scene of a similar incident back in 2012, on what became known as Thunder Thursday.
There were also reports of large pools of water under the Bondgate Tower, at the bottom of Wagonway Road, and on Narrowgate, while the public toilets in the Shambles were also flooded.
Police were on the scene at the war memorial and directing traffic up Wagonway Road or Prudhoe Street as standing water meant that the B6346 was pretty much impassable at that point for a time.
Motorists are also being warned about lifted drain covers on a number of streets, caused by the high volume of water.
