A Rothbury resident has captured flooding which has struck a Northumberland village this morning following heavy rain overnight.
Eight rivers in Northumberland have been placed on flood alert, including the the Upper River Coquet. The riverside flood gate at Rothbury remained closed during the night due to the rising river levels.
Sam Lowe captured the flooding earlier this morning on his drone and sent the footage to the Gazette.
As of 11.58 this morning, the Environment Agency said: "Heavy showers in the Upper River Coquet area are expected to continue throughout this afternoon, however levels on the Upper River Coquet will begin to fall this afternoon into this evening but will remain high. Low-lying land and roads may be affected.
"At the moment, we do not expect to issue any Flood Warnings for this area. The flood gates at Rothbury will remain closed until the river returns to more normal levels. We are constantly monitoring river levels and have workers on standby to clear blockages and operate defences if required."
