A new action-packed trailer for the soon-to-be-released Transformers movie has been unveiled – and it features Alnwick in numerous shots.
Various scenes for Paramount’s Transformers: The Last Knight were filmed in Northumberland last year.
Movie lovers were not disappointed as the stars of the latest instalment in the blockbuster series, Mark Wahlberg and Sir Anthony Hopkins, made an appearance in Alnwick and Bamburgh during filming.
They even posed for selfies and took time to speak to star-struck fans.
Ahead of the film’s UK release next month, the new trailer has been unveiled to whet the appetites of cinema-goers – and it shows numerous shots of Alnwick Castle and the Pastures.
During the Alnwick-based snippet, which features both Wahlberg and Sir Anthony, the unusual sight of a tank can be seen beside the castle, while one of the Transformers graces the Pastures.
In the movie, humans and Transformers are at war and Optimus Prime has gone rogue.
The key to saving the future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on earth.
This instalment, which will open on June 23, marks the last from franchise director and producer Michael Bay.
Alnwick Playhouse is screening the film on Tuesday, August 1, and Tuesday, August 8. Visit alnwickplayhouse.co.uk or call 01665 510785.
It’s not the first time that films, as well as TV shows, have used Northumberland as a backdrop.
Well-known and popular titles such as Harry Potter, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Macbeth, Downton Abbey and Vera have all been shot in and around the county.
