WATCH: A year in front pages - how your Gazette reported 2016

It's not just on the national and international stage that 2016 has been busy and full of incident - it's been an action-packed year in north Northumberland too.

As this slideshow featuring some of our front pages shows, there's been plenty happening in the area - everything from tragic deaths and flooding to Olympic finals and Oscar shortlists.

There's been new developments - some welcome like Alnwick's new high school, some more controversial like the opencast plans near Druridge Bay - concerns about everything from dog fouling to the potential impact of Brexit on farming and, of course, plenty of examples of the kind of community spirit that exists in north Northumberland.

Here's hoping that 2017 brings more of the good and less of the bad news.
