Warning over ‘suspicious’ vehicle in rural north Northumberland

Police are appealing for help to trace a ‘suspicious’ lorry seen ‘driving around farm buildings’.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: “A suspicious vehicle was reported May 14, 2015, around the area east of Milfield, Northumberland.

“The vehicle was a white Peugeot Boxer drop side lorry registration number SL52XFW.

“It is potentially scrapmen from Berwick looking to commit theft from farms as it was seen driving around farm buildings but not approaching farmers or staff for permission to do so.

“If you see any vehicles or people acting suspiciously in and around your property please contact Police immediately – making a note of the registration number, make, model and possible direction of travel. Then please contact Police immediately on 999.

“Please ensure that vehicles are secure and keys for personal vehicles, agricultural machinery, vehicles and quads are kept securely away from the vehicle and out of sight, and not left in the vehicles - even for a short period of time.
