Warning after people seen jumping from life-saving equipment used by Berwick RNLI team

Berwick-upon-Tweed’s team has put out a plea for parents to speak to children about the risks as they urged people to leave the small crane at their base off Dock Road alone.
An RNLI spokesperson said: “Unfortunately we have had reports of people climbing, tampering and jumping from this piece of vital equipment into the River Tweed.

Hide Ad"This is a davit used for launching and recovering our D-Class inshore lifeboat.
"Can we ask all parents and carers to explain to children and youths that this equipment could be involved in saving their lives should anyone get into difficulties in our surrounding area.
"The Carr Rock is a particularly dangerous area and we would not advise anyone to jump from it.
"There are some dangerous currents running by it.”
