Warkworth prepare for Tillside visit with solid win

Warkworth secured their third Northumberland League Premier Division win of the season on Saturday with a seven-wicket win at Blagdon Park.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat, but it was not long before they were 23-3 as Martin Clark (2) and Adam Hall took early wickets.

But after Matthew Senior was caught by Michael Sewell for Clark’s third wicket, Blagdon finally got a hold in the game.

And it came courtesy of Shaun Collins, who top scored with 65 before being stumped by Stephen Dargue off the bowling of William Pringle.

Mark Foster (12), David Simpson (22) and Angus Johnson (25) all made valuable late contributions as the home side were all out for 176.

Clark finished with 4-37, while Pringle 2-29 and Adam Hall 2-56 picked up vital wickets. Ian Clough bowled three maidens in 12 overs to finish with 1-39.

In reply, Warkworth reached their target for the loss of three wickets.

Sewell top scored with an unbeaten 60, while Dargue (30) and Scott Gibson (31) made good contributions to the 180-3 total.

Elsewhere, Tillside recorded a comfortable seven-wicket win also, Ulgham the beaten side.

The home side were bowled out for 120 with Alan Hindmarsh (3-19), Jake Birkett (2-20) and Ben Toulson (2-38) the main wicket takers.

Tillside reached 121-3 in under 25 overs, with Liam Hindmarsh top scoring with an unbeaten 61.

The leaders travel to Warkworth on Saturday.

In Division One, Warenford lost by seven wickets to Cramlington.

Daniel Patterson (27) top scored for the visitors in their total of 126-9.

In Division Two, Tillside dismissed Embleton for 58, Luke Dickson taking 6-23. In reply, an unbeaten 33 from Keith Bickerton was enough for a seven-wicket win.

In the Thomas Wilson Cup Tillside 1sts beat Rock by 109 runs.

Liam Hindmarsh hit 72 and Jack Bagness 70 as Tillside put on 177-1, with Rock all out for 68, opener Kevin Wilson top scoring on 33. Luke Dickson took 4-15.

Embleton lost to Cramlington in a low-scoring match, going down by 10 wickets. Embleton were all out for only 46.

In reply, Cramlington passed their target without a wicket down.

Warkworth beat Stobswood by seven wickets.

Stobswood reached 75 all out, which was an easy target for Warkworth, who had Stephen Dargue hit 44 not out on their way to 78-3.
