Vote for Northumberland in search for Britain's favourites

Two of the jewels in north Northumberland's crown are in the running to be named Britain's favourites.

Alnwick Castle and Cragside have both been nominated in the annual LandLove Reader Awards, which celebrate the best things about the British countryside.

Cragside is one of 10 nominees up for the title of Britain's favourite garden, battling it out for votes with the likes of Wakehurst Botanic Gardens, home of the Millennium Seed Bank, and the Royal Horticultural Society's Hyde Hall in Essex.

Alnwick Castle is facing opposition from nine othersto be voted Britain's favourite castle. Its opposition includes Edinburgh Castle, Cardiff Castle and Belvoir Castle.

The awards, organised by LandLove magazine, feature 12 'favourites' categories, ranging from food and drink producers and clothing brands, to places to stay and cathedrals.
