VISITORS: Figures are no surprise to us

Reading your article about more visitors to Northumberland during a weekend break ourselves was of little surprise, (Northumberland Gazette, September 15).

To holiday in this beautiful, and still largely undiscovered, county is a tonic to the stresses of everyday life.

In glorious September weather we have visited the Northumberland Cheese Company and the Alnwick Food Festival, giving in to temptation and going on to enjoy a self-catering meal staying in a Shepherd’s Hut in High Trewitley.

Great food, great places to visit and great places to stay.

Reading the Northumberland Gazette outside our adopted home for the night, it is also great to see that you have a local MP in Anne-Marie Trevelyan whose campaigns, visits and efforts to get the best for the Berwick constituency is refreshing at a time when politicians are written off as ‘in it for themselves’ by too many people.

Thank you for a great weekend, and all we can say is keep up the good work Anne-Marie and well done to Northumberland and the Northumberland Gazette.

We will be back.
