Village to showcase its hidden history

Belford’s Hidden History Centre will be open for the first time today to coincide with Heritage Open Days in the village.

The organisers were successful in obtaining funding from the National Lottery Village SOS fund to restore a little-used reading room into a permanent home for the popular Hidden History exhibition, which had been housed in unused commercial buildings.

There will be six attractions in Belford to visit: Blue Bell Ballroom, a beautiful Georgian room recently restored; Erskine United Reformed Church, built in 1821; The Ferguson Hall, built in 1905; Belford Reading Room – all open from 11am to 4pm; Belford Hall, a Palladian mansion; an ecological self-build house – open from 12pm to 4pm over the weekend.

The history group is asking for information and exhibits that relate to Belford and area.
