Plans to build seven new homes on the outskirts of Bamburgh have attracted strong objections from residents.
Bamburgh Parish Council and the Northumberland Coast AONB Partnership have joined them in voicing their concerns about plans to develop a greenfield site next to The Friars, off Radcliffe Road.
Parish councillors have objected to the design and, more generally, about the lack of affordable housing and growth of second home ownership in the village.
The scheme has been withdrawn for further consultation by architects Design Two but will be resubmitted. The Morpeth-based company says it will provide attractive homes within walking distance of the village’s amenities. They also say the U-shaped plan reflects the pattern of development in the adjacent converted steading.
