The Alnwick venue for the biggest social wedding of the year on Saturday was decked out in magnificent fashion.
St Michael’s Church was waiting at the end of a short walk along Bailiffgate from Alnwick Castle for the high-profile wedding party, which included two princes, two princesses, dukes, duchesses, lords, ladies and a whole host of socialites.
It had been bedecked in displays of highly-fragrant blooms, such as stocks, lilies and sweet peas, leaves and branches by Hexham-based florist Caro Dickinson.
Green arches were constructed at the ends of the aisles and flowers cascaded from the church pillars.
This video was taken inside St Michael’s and is accompanied by the Grand March from Aida by Giuseppe Verdi, which was played as the bride Lady Melissa Percy was led into church by her father the Duke of Northumberland,
It is followed by clips of Lady Melissa and her husband Thomas van Straubenzee leaving the church and getting into the restored carriage for the journey back to the castle for the reception. They are followed by family members and the groom’s party, including Prince William, who was joint-best man.
