We were pleased to read in the Gazette, July 27, that the County Council is spending more time cutting the grass verges especially at junctions where drivers’ vision can be restricted.
However, we would be pleased to have some explanation as to why the verge along Hulne Park wall at Abbeylands has been cut and poisoned but the verge at the other side of the road has been left to grow nettles and thistles across the footpath.
This footpath is used not only by the residents of Abbeylands but also by people out walking.
It is impossible to use the path with a pushchair as the width of the path is so restricted by weeds.
Come on, Northumberland County Council, look after council taxpayers not just tourists.
