Police are appealing for witnesses after vandals damaged construction machinery at a former Northumberland quarry, which is earmarked for affordable housing.

The incident happened between 3pm on Friday, March 13, and 7am on Monday, March 16, at a building site on the former Embleton Quarry, near to Cairnstone Gardens, Embleton.

The offenders went onto the site and smashed the windows of an excavator and bulldozer, before making off.

Construction work is taking place at the site to build 16 affordable homes.

Anyone who was in the area and may have seen or heard anything suspicious is urged to contact police. Anyone with information should contact police on 101, extension 69191, quoting log number 180 of 16/03/15, or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
