The sessions have been running at the village’s Westfield Park for six months, but numbers have dwindled.

A new eight-week course starts next Thursday and unless the core number of participants increases to a minimum of eight, Longhoughton may lose the sessions.

Pilates consists of a range of exercises and stretches that help tone and strengthen the body.

It can also help increase circulation, improve balance, awareness and improve flexibility and is helpful for people with back problems. It is suitable for men and women of all ages.
