A water main has burst in north Northumberland leading to homes being left without water and disruption on the A1.
The burst main has led to flooding on the A1 at the Brownieside junction, on the short dual-carriageway section to the north of Alnwick. Temporary traffic lights are in operation both north and southbound leading to some disruption.
A spokeswoman for Northumbrian Water said that a 10” water main in the highway verge at Brownieside burst in the early hours of this morning.
The company has managed to move water around the network to prevent people’s water supply from going off, but some homes in the area from South Charlton through to Denwick will have no supply or low water pressure.
Repairs are being completed now and the water should be back on shortly.
