A man has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash on the A1 in north Northumberland this morning
Both carriageways are still closed between the B6347 South Charlton junction and the A1068 Alnwick junctionfollowing the collision.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 8.25am after a van and a car collided near South Charlton.
One man was taken to the RVI in Newcastle with life-threatening injuries. Another man was taken to Wansbeck Hospital with less serious injuries.
The road is closed north and southbound between the Denwick and South Charlton turn-offs and a diversion is in place.
