A yacht aground at Alnmouth yesterday was re-floated early this morning.
The Amble Coastguard team was alerted to the yacht with engine difficulty south of the river at Alnmouth late yesterday afternoon.
Both of Amble’s lifeboats were launched to go its aid.
A woman and a child were taken off the yacht at low tide and the owner stayed on board.
The yacht was aground and, with the tide dropping, there was no way to re-float it.
The Amble lifeboats relaunched at midnight and helped successfully re-float the yacht.
The crews returned to station at 3am.
