An elderly man has been taken to hospital after he collapsed in Alnwick earlier today.
A spokesman for the North East Air Ambulance Service said: "We received a 999 call at around 11.39am for an elderly man who had collapsed. Due to the potential seriousness of this, we alerted the air ambulance to support us.
"We were in the vicinity of this location within eight minutes. It took us a while to locate him which is why we called the police."
Northumbria Police were called to assist just after midday and have confirmed that the man, who was found in a field near Alnwick Castle Golf Club, has been taken to North Tyneside General Hospital. The police will not be releasing any further details at present.
