The southbound A1 in north Northumberland has reopened following a burst water main, but traffic lights are likely to be in place until this afternoon.
The incident has occurred at the Haggerston Castle junction and caused severe disruption and slow-moving traffic. Police attended to direct the traffic.
The southbound carriageway is now open, but two-way traffic lights are in operation for Northumbrian Water to carry out repairs. The completion time is likely to be 4pm.
