Unique retelling of Andersen's story

A unique retelling of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Steadfast Tin Soldier is set to entertain audiences at Shilbottle Community Hall next week.

New life is breathed into Andersen’s romantic tale of adventure and love on Friday, December 1, with a combination of paper-cuts and puppets, projected animations, music, shadow play and the transformation of everyday objects and toys to create the characters and situations.

The show’s inventive design combines with great storytelling and character acting to portray the tale of a resilient one-legged toy soldier and his extraordinary adventures out in the world after falling out of a window in the rain.

This playful retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s poetic story, now showing with Highlights Rural Touring Scheme, creates a theatrical experience that will engage and touch young hearts and minds.

The show is aimed at children aged three and over and their families, and all are invited to see the puppets after the show.

After the huge success of its last visit to Shilbottle in October 2015 with Thumbelina, organisers are delighted to welcome back the Norwich Puppet Theatre.

Tickets for the event, which starts at 6pm, are available on 07946 537703 or online at the website www.highlightsnorth.co.uk
