At Newcastle Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday) White and Larmouth were each jailed for 20 months for assault.

After the hearing, Superintendent Mick Paterson, said: “This was an unprovoked attack on two men who were simply walking home after enjoying a meeting in Newcastle.

“I welcome the sentences handed down on them which show how seriously incidents of this nature are taken.

“Violence in our communities will not be tolerated and the streets of North Tyneside are a safer place with them behind bars.

“We commend the bravery of the two victims after what has been an incredibly distressing time for them.”
