Harvest and Dave Harris-Jones, of Laverock Law Cottages, said: “We are absolutely delighted to win the Sustainable Tourism award which recognises all the hard work of our whole family, to create a very special sustainable holiday destination.

“We were so proud to represent Northumberland on the national stage.”

VisitEngland judge Neil Warren praised Laverock Law Cottages.

He said: “It was a pleasure to visit them and see all that they are doing, particularly their passion and the commitment shown in the meticulous attention for detail that they are showing in every aspect of making their business have the best possible impact.”

Meanwhile, Carolyn Britton, manager at Seafield Caravan Park, said the team was delighted with the silver.

She said: “We have done really well. We have won gold twice before, but we hadn’t entered for a few years before we were shortlisted this time round. We are really pleased with the silver, it is fantastic for everyone – staff and our customers.”

The two venues made it through to the national awards ceremony after winning gold in their respective categories at last year’s North East England Tourism Awards.

Laverock Law Cottages also picked up gold at last summer’s inaugural Northumberland Tourism Awards, organised by Northeast Press – publishers of the Northumberland Gazette, Berwick Advertiser, Morpeth Herald and News Post Leader – in conjunction with Northumberland Tourism.

Jude Leitch, director of Northumberland Tourism, praised the pair for their success on the national stage.

She said: “They are both great ambassadors for Northumberland and their achievements show the quality being offered in the county, which is improving year on year, and endorse the destination that we are really becoming.”

The prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, now in their 29th year, recognise, congratulate and celebrate businesses and individuals who raise the bar of England’s tourism offer and provide guests with truly memorable experiences and showcase quality, innovation and excellence.
