Two climate change events are set to be held in Alnwick this month

‘Alnwick Old Town in a Changing Climate’ will be the topic of an ‘Any Questions’ style event organised by Alnwick Civic Society on Wednesday, November 20 from 6pm to 8pm.

It ill take place at the Duchess’s Community High School (DCHS) so there is enough seating space for what is expected to be a lively discussion.

To share their knowledge and experience, panellists from Alnwick Town Council, Northumberland County Council, the climate emergency officer from Northumberland County Council, Alnwick Area

Alnwick Old Town in a Changing Climate is the topic of an event organised by the civic society.

Friends of the Earth, and a DCHS student, have been invited.

They will be discussing the threats that climate change could bring to the historic environment of Alnwick and what steps can be taken locally, regionally and nationally to remove or mitigate them.

The event open to the public. Entry and parking on site is free and refreshments are available at 6pm.

Meanwhile, a fourth climate change demonstration is also being planned in Alnwick.

The YouthStrike4Climate event is being held on Friday, November 29 when people all over the world will strike from school or the workplace in order to demand action on climate change.Participants will be gathering on the grass verge opposite Willowburn Leisure Centre from 8.25am before moving into Alnwick town centre after 9am.‘Multiple actions are planned throughout the morning,’ states a Facebook post promoting the event. ‘This protest will be 100% peaceful but will contain minor disruption’.
