Two children found in Amble after being taken from school

A man and woman have been arrested after two young children were taken from their foster parents by a relative and subsequently found in Amble.

Police received a report that a girl, five, and a two-year-old boy had been picked up by a female relative outside of a school in West Denton, Newcastle, at around 9.30am yesterday.

An investigation was launched and yesterday afternoon the children were found by police in the care of the same relative and a man. A police spokesman confirmed that the youngsters were found around Amble’s harbour area.

Police say that at no stage were the children believed to be in any immediate danger and are being returned to the care of their foster parents.

A man and woman have been arrested in connection with the incident. Anyone with any information should contact officers on 101, quoting log 219 21/03/17.
