A set of twins from Shilbottle are preparing to embark on their high-school career with a spectacular record under their belts.
Abigail and Isobel Rowland have never had a day off in their four years at Lindisfarne Middle School.
And the 13-year-olds’ record is even more impressive than that, having never missed a day at first school or Friendly Frogs before that or nursery before that – more than a decade of perfect attendance. Staff at the school say that it has never happened before and the fact that they’re twins makes it even more of a landmark.
Isobel said that they didn’t realise they had never missed a day until the end of first school when it was pointed out.
And in case anyone thinks it’s mum’s fault for forcing them in when they’re ill, Abigail said: “Mum keeps wanting us to stay off, but we say no.”
Acting deputy headteacher Sue Oram-Graham said: “This is an incredible achievement and we are very proud of both the girls for showing such commitment to their learning throughout their careers at the school.”
