The Cherry Orchard is planted with more than 300 Tai Haku cherry trees, known as'the great white cherry because of its large white blossom.

The Alnwick Garden is the only place in the UK to see the Tai Haku planted in such numbers. The trees are underplanted with 50,000 Purple Sensation alliums.

Gardeners' World is on BBC Two tonight at 8.30pm.

The programme also features advice on what to grow to provide plenty of cut flowers for summer bouquets and visits Cumbria to meet Jack Gott, who has been passionate dahlias for more than 40 years and has more than 1,000 plants in his garden.
