NFA MINORCUP

Heaton Stannington B 2

Shilbottle CW 3

Shilbottle recorded a fine victory in this NFA Minor Cup third round tie switched to Cochrane Park, Newcastle, following a couple of recent postponements due to bad weather.

Play was fairly even early on, but the Colliers took the lead after 20 minutes when Kenny Collins was brought down in the box by the home sides goalkeeper.

Danny Donohoe’s effort from the resultant spot kick was saved but Collins followed up to shoot into an empty net.

The Colliers scored again just before the break when a good ball from Will Farmer set Collins clear to round the keeper and get his second.

Shilbottle led by two goals at the interval but Heaton Stannington struck back ten minutes after the restart through Jamie Anderson to reduce the deficit.

The Colliers regained their two goal advantage on the hour when a tremendous 20 yard volley from Collins found the top corner to complete his hattrick and put Shilbottle in control.

Collins also hit the bar shortly after as the Colliers threatened to increase their lead.
