They started their day by visiting Waterstone’s and listening to a story. The class then headed to Wagamama for a spot of lunch.

A short walk after lunch took them to the Theatre Royal for Scottish Ballet: Wee Hansel and Gretel.

Peter Lindley, their class teacher, said: “A number of my class live in rural, isolated places around north Northumberland and at Wooler First School, we really try hard to give children opportunities to try and experience a wide variety of new things.

“On this trip, the children loved the sights and sounds of Newcastle, the hustle and bustle and ultimately seeing and perhaps tasting something new.”
