Trial of unlimited parking on Wooler High Street

Currently, the parking on High Street is limited to 45 minutes, which doesn’t allow much time for people to get their errands done.

Following a meeting with the county council, it was suggested that while changing parking restrictions was costly and onerous, it would be much easier just to remove them, meaning parking would be unlimited.

Coun Alfreda Hindmarsh said: “That sounds good, but there would be people who abuse it.” But Coun Rosanna Reed said: “How many people would actually abuse it?”

Members agreed to go ahead with a trial, assuming it could be done simply by covering the signs.
