Treat for opera fans lined up at festival

The Northumberland Music Festival, which sees live concerts at venues across Northumberland and further afield, continues at Doxford Hall this week with North Wales Opera Studio (NWOS).

Friday’s Gala Opera Evening, under the instruction of Anne Williams-King and David Bartlett, will include arias, duets and semi-staged scenes from some of the great composers, including Verdi, Puccini, Mozart and Bizet.

And on Saturday, the Sacred and Sublime Concert, with excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, works by Mendelssohn, Bach, Mozart and Verdi, will highlight one of the most enduring of musical genres.
