Warkworth road blocked after heavy goods vehicle gets stuck

A heavy goods vehicle got stuck negotiating a bend in Warkworth earlier.

The incident on the A1068 near Warkworth Castle on Friday, May 21, resulted in long tailbacks of traffic in both directions.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 1.15pm today we received a report a large vehicle was stuck on Castle Street, Warkworth.

"Officers attended the scene and assisted with traffic management and diversions while the road was temporarily closed.”

The bend where the lorry got stuck in Warkworth.

It is understood the incident lasted less than an hour.
