Three people taken to hospital after car overturns on A1 near Alnwick

Emergency services were called to the A1 northbound at Deanmoor at 9.02am this morning following reports of a collision where a car had turned on its side.

Three patients have been taken to Northumbria Emergency Care hospital after one person was trapped in the overturned vehicle.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 9.02am this morning to reports a car had overturned on the A1.

"We dispatched two paramedic crews who treated three patients on scene before being taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.

"One patient was trapped inside the overturned vehicle.”

Northumbria Police have now reopened the road after the road was partially blocked northbound.

In a tweet a Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “A1 at Deanmoor in Alnwick now fully open. Thank you.”
