Man taken to hospital with ‘serious’ injuries after crash on A68 near Ridsdale

A man has been taken to hospital after crashing his vehicle on the A68 in Northumberland.

Shortly after 3.30am on Friday, February 14, Northumbria Police received a report of a one-vehicle crash on the A68 south of Ridsdale, Northumberland.

At around 4.20am officers confirmed that the road had been closed in both directions as emergency services attended the scene of the incident.

At the time, the public were advised to avoid the area and to take an alternative route while work took place to clear the area.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Emergency services attended and the male driver was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

“The road was temporarily closed to allow a clear-up operation to take place and has since reopened.”

Shortly after 5am, a spokesperson for the Force tweeted: “Motorists are advised that the carriageway is now open in both directions.
