Lorry finds a spot of bother negotiating Alnwick town centre

A large lorry carrying a load of hay bales was forced into making an awkward manoeuvre in Alnwick earlier.

The driver, from Keith, Banffshire, had to make an about-turn on Bondgate Within.

It was the latest in a long line of traffic related incidents in the town centre, many involving the 15th century Bondgate Tower.

It has been hit by vehicles on a number of occasions and, last week, a coach nearly struck the eastern facade of the historic archway before backing up and finding an alternative route.
